10th Grade

Advise students to begin pursuing more rigorous academic options depending on school curriculum and interests.

Map out a testing plan for PSAT, TOEFL, and SAT, as needed.

Guide students to more deeply impact their communities and engage in extracurricular activities, whether through leadership and independent projects.

Work with students to research and understand potential college majors, and encourage them to pursue relevant activities and projects.

Guide students to shape their criteria for the college search toward the end of 10th grade; work with families to plan college visits as needed.

Ensure students build on previous summer and extracurricular activities to deepen their passions and experience through meaningful internships, shadowing, programs, and research.

Encourage students to build connections for personal, professional, and academic growth.
11th Grade

Work with students to select the most rigorous courses available in the subject areas they are most passionate about.

Advise students on taking SAT, ACT, and/or TOEFL in the second half of 11th grade, including when to schedule practice tests, preparation, and exams.

Provide research and background knowledge in order to help students build custom college lists based on their academic, personal, and professional interests. Aid with application strategy, in terms of both developing a balanced list and where to apply Early Decision and/or Early Action.

Support students to develop a summer plan that involves a significant depth of contribution, whether that be a research or independent project, internship, or entrepreneurial endeavor.

Continue guiding students to more deeply impact their communities and engage in extracurricular activities, whether through leadership or independent projects.

Brainstorm effective essay topics with students; compile resumes and activity lists to maximize storytelling; throughout the summer following 11th grade, plan supplemental essay topics for individual universities.

Discuss appropriate teachers and mentors for students to request letters from; assist students with brag sheets or talking points so recommenders understand the key points to mention in their letters.
12th Grade

Ensure students maintain excellent academic performance while handling added college application responsibilities.

Make sure students have a balanced list of colleges and application timeline strategy.

Continue to help students brainstorm and edit essays for their applications; help students proofread and submit applications; ensure students apply well before deadlines; keep students calm and enthusiastic as they navigate the final weeks of applications.

Remind students to maintain their level of extracurricular involvement so that they can discuss their progress in any Letters of Continued Interest.

Celebrate students’ university acceptances and discuss final decisions with students and families.
